Matthew M. Williams
Sole Practitioner
I am an experienced Illinois divorce attorney and family lawyer. When you retain me, you retain an experienced divorce attorney, trained and familiar not only in the ins-and-outs of divorce litigation but extensively trained and experienced in the collaborative and cooperative law approaches to divorce resolution.
My law firm represents people in DuPage, Kendall and Kane Counties. For nearly a decade, I have focused entirely on divorce, paternity (parentage), establishment and modification of support, parental rights, enforcement of divorce decrees and other family law related matters. I have litigated numerous divorce and parentage matters and know how to litigate yours. More importantly than that, I focus on keeping your case out of the courthouse as much as possible. That helps keep costs down and can actually expedite many cases.
I have an undergraduate degree in psychology with 5 years' experience working with abused children and adolescents with severe psychiatric and emotional disorders. Prior to my work as an outreach specialist and child care worker I worked with Alzheimer's & dementia residents in long term care. My experience in psychology has taught me how to work with people effectively and provides me with insight that will be helpful to your case.
By combining my training and experience in psychology with my legal education, training and experience in divorce and family law, I am not only sensitive to the emotional impact divorce can have on you, but skilled at protecting your interests, obtaining positive results, and doing so at a reasonable rate.
Being both a seasoned divorce litigation attorney, trained collaborative lawyer, and one of the few cooperative lawyers in the area, I know how to best serve you, do it proficiently and do it all within your budget. I have no hesitancy about taking whatever steps are necessary to protect your rights, but more importantly, I know how to resolve your issues and enforce your rights WITHOUT having to litigate. Negotiating as opposed to litigating generally maximizes your position and minimizes your costs. My client’s have ranged from those holding major nationwide corporations to those with great economic challenges. Whatever your position in life, I know I can help you through.
